REGULATIONS:

  • All stud sheep must be from a registered Merino Stud and shown in accordance with the QMSSA shearing regulations.
  • All sheep to be penned by 00 am and ready for judging on the second day of the show.
  • All sheep must be bona-fide property of the exhibitor whether individuals or firms, for 12 months prior to the show.
  • The judge may transfer wrongly classed sheep to their correct class.
  • No cross entries permitted unless otherwise specified.
  • No exhibitor shall combine his/her sheep to compete in any class.
  • Sheep only from Brucellosis accredited free flocks to be shown in the stud sheep section

Processing the most desirable characteristics of the breed and covering length of staple from a manufacturing point of view (refer to recommendations to judges, paragraph 2).

  1. CONFORMITY OF LENGTH                       10 POINTS

The desired uniformity of length throughout the entire fleece as it stands.

  1. SOUNDNESS 10 POINTS

Sufficient tensile strength to give the best results under the combing system.

  1. HANDLE                                    8 POINTS

The softness and pliancy necessary for outstanding results in spinning.

  1. COLOUR AND BLOOMING ETC. 6 POINTS

The possession of those characteristics for top grading from a style point of view.

  1. CHARACTER                       10 POINTS

Even well-defined crimp from butt to tip.

REGULATIONS:                                                                          ENTRY $20.00 per Class

  1. NOMINATIONS by Saturday, 10 May 2024 to allow pen allocations.
  2. All Cattle to be penned by 10 am on Monday, 13 May 2024.
  3. EARLIER ARRIVALS would be appreciated.
  4. Judging to commence at approximately 2 pm on Monday 13 May 2023, following the

     judging of the Future Breeders Group and Pair of Bulls.

  1. Commercial cattle classes 1 – 7 are restricted to grass or crop fed.
  2. No beast can compete in more than one class.
  3. Stewards retain the right to transfer any entry to a more suitable class.
  4. Preferably polled or dehorned cattle to be entered, or if horned they are to be

    appropriately tipped within the ear.

  1. All cattle in the STORE and TRADE CLASS sections must be the property of the exhibitor

    for at least three months prior to the show.

  1. All cattle in the BREEDER CLASS section must have been bred by, and

     be the property of the exhibitor at the time of the show.

  1. All cattle are to be bred and owned within the Mitchell Show District or the old

      Booringa Shire boundary.

  1. No cross entries into STORE and TRADE Classes.
  2. No cattle are allowed as non-competitive.
  3. Only commercial breeding cattle may nominate.
  4. The Stewards have the right to reject any entry that does not meet the necessary

      standards.

  1. The Biosecurity Act 2014 states that cattle moving to and from agricultural shows are

      required to be correctly identified with approved NLIS devices. Cattle movements to

      and from (shows) must be recorded on NLIS database using a sighted cattle report,

      within 48 hours of leaving the (show). The Committee will organise this for

      competitors. If in doubt refer to the Steward.

  1. All cattle must be branded, and male calves castrated unless being retained for breeding

      purposes.

  1. Points for the Most Successful Exhibitor will be scored on the Exhibitor with the most

      points. Points will be awarded thus: First 3 points, Second 2 points, Third 1 point,

      Champion 5 points. Should there by a tie, then it will be settled in a Gentlemanly

      manner……take 5 paces turn and shoot…. the winner takes all!

  • All entries must be free of disease, Lice, Fleas etc. Birds that are unhealthy or have parasites will not be entered.
  • All birds are to be penned by no later than 8.30 am on the Monday morning of the show.
  • Stewards will be available on Sunday afternoon from 2 pm to 6 pm to cage birds. If possible, it is preferred that birds be brought in at this time
  • Completed entry forms to be handed into the Secretary Office by Friday prior the show.
  • All entries to be single unless entered as pairs.
  • Birds to be entered in one class only.
  • Aviary birds to be brought in their own cages.
  • Entry Fees to be paid when birds are penned.
  • Owners will be allowed to remove birds from pens between 3 pm and 5 pm on the Tuesday of the show.

REGULATIONS:

  • ENTRIES RECEIVED AFTER THE CLOSING TIME WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AT THE PAVILION.
  • EXHIBITS (OTHER THAN PERISHABLES) ARE TO BE IN THE HANDS OF THE STEWARDS AT THE SHOW GROUND BY 4 PM THE DAY PRIOR TO THE SHOW, UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED.
  • PERISHABLES (COOKING AND FLOWERS) ARE TO BE IN THE HANDS OF THE STEWARDS BY 9 AM ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE SHOW.
  • PHOTOGRAPHS ARE TO BE IN THE HANDS OF THE STEWARDS BY 12 NOON ON THE SATURDAY PRIOR TO THE SHOW.
  • Entry fees as stated in this schedule.
  • Entries are to be made on the nomination form provided by the Show Committee.
  • All entries are to be the bona-fide property of the exhibitor and all produce is to be grown in the Maranoa district.
  • All entries in the Art and Industrial Sections to be the work of the exhibitor and entries must not specify the name of the exhibitor unless non-competitive.
  • On receipt of any entry, the steward will give the class ticket for same, which must be the only sign of ownership attached to the exhibit.
  • Exhibitors must arrange their own exhibits in the place allotted by the stewards. Judges and stewards may transfer any exhibit from one class to another. The stewards reserve the right to reject any exhibit or exhibits which may not be considered to be of sufficient merit to be displayed.
  • Prize tickets and ribbons shall be affixed as soon as Judges have made their awards.
  • The decision by the Judges will be final as to the merits of the competition. The Society reserves the right to adjudicate on any point or points, which may be under dispute, and the committee’s decision will be final.
  • All protests must be lodged with the secretary, addressed to her and accompanied by a deposit of $10 within two (2) hours of the notification of the Judge’s award. If the committee considered the protest frivolous, the deposit may be forfeited. On hearing of all protests and disputes arising out of the award, the Committee shall abide by the Judge’s book unless it be shown that the Judges have been wilfully or accidentally mislead.
  • Prize money unclaimed after a period of (3) months is deemed to be the property of the Show Society
  • Exhibitors shall render themselves liable to a penalty of $10.00 by removing any official placard, ticket, or ribbon in lieu thereof, or by refusing in any way to carry out their instructions and the secretary will incur no responsibility by enforcing the regulations.
  • Every care will be taken with exhibits but the Society will not be responsible for any loss or damage. Any exhibits must be brought to and removed from the ground by the Exhibitor.
  • A first prize winning exhibit is not eligible for any competition in any succeeding Mitchell Shows. Previous winning entries can be exhibited in a non-competitive way.
  • Pavilion Exhibits cannot be removed from the Pavilion prior to 5.00 pm on the second day of the Show.
  • Items for sale; Exhibitors may nominate sale price and will be responsible for attaching price tickets. The Show Society will deduct 10% from the sale price.
  • The pavilion is closed to the public while judging is in progress.

  1. All exhibits must be the work of students attending Schools located within the Shires of Maranoa or children enrolled with the School of Distance Education.
  2. All entries must be written in the correct Handwriting and on the correct paper. Years Five, Six:  blue lines only.
  3. All children’s names must be on the back of the piece of handwriting. Students must have the name of the school they attend and their year level. 
  4. All student in years One to Six must use a relatively date pencil so that their handwriting can easily be read at a distance.
  5. Year Three: entries and exits are a minimum requirement
  6. Yest Four, Five and Six require a margin ruled in pencil
  7. Teachers, please select the five best entries from your class for judging
  8. Punctuation and spelling are important, however, ultimately, handwriting will determine First Place
